Now that the days are getting longer and the weather is warming up people here in the region start looking forward to the forthcoming season of events and activities. Here are just a few of the early season events to look forward to:
It’s always heartwarming to compare, and sometimes contrast, the weather that we’re having here in southwest France to the weather back in the UK and to be reminded that we do enjoy longer, hotter summers. An early Spring suggests that we might be sitting by the pool in the sun from April onwards!
For one weekend each year, the sights and sounds of 1950s road racing return to the small town of Bressuire, just north of us here in Deux-Sèvres. The Grand Prix Automobile Historique takes place on the weekend closest to the end of June or beginning of July.
Throughout July and August the Romanesque churches and abbeys of the Poitou-Charentes become atmospheric venues for a series of cultural events including instrumental and choral concerts, dance, theatre and even circus acts.
