Fresh fish from Lezay Market

It’s the beginning of September and still 32 degrees with blue skies. Time for a BBQ with some good friends who have traveled from England to be with us this week.

Tuesday is market day at Lezay, just a few minutes drive away from us in Vanzay. In fact there’s a market every day in one of the nearby towns so there’s never a day when fresh produce isn’t available.

We’re both foodies so we’ve taken advantage of the long summers here in Poitou-Charente by planting a few fruit trees, nurturing our vines and growing what we can.

Summer 2016 has been particularly warm (some might say hot) and dry. Perfect for holidays and swimming in the pool and seemingly perfect for our fruit trees too.

Clutch change on our Citroën DS23ie hire car
