We were lucky enough to have both La Petite Maison and La Grange booked out for the last week of June by classic car enthusiasts: Rob and Claire in their MGB Roadster with a recently rebuilt and breathed on engine by Oselli; Steve and Emma in their late MGB Roadster, with rubber bumpers removed and looking well for it, and Dick and Anne Francis, who were hiring one of our Citroën DSs during their stay. Dick is a professional restorer (www.carroserie.co.uk) and remembers working on DSs in the late sixties.

Nearby to La Ferme de L’Église we are lucky enough to have a National race circuit, Circuit du Val de Vienne that hosts a wide variety of track events throughout the summer. Being only 40 minutes drive away, through beautiful countryside on fabulous roads, we are well placed to host parties travelling to Val de Vienne and wanting local holiday accommodation, or as a must visit day trip for any classic and/or race enthusiast.
At the end of April we were favoured with the company of David and Sandra who were here for the week to enjoy a DS and gîte holiday with the use of the DS23ie, and then with Pete and Lindi in their DS23 Pallas in the second half of the week. The occasion was Pete’s birthday and so what better excuse to enjoy a day out to Angoulême in the three DS’! This was to be David and Sandra’s second visit there that week, the first having been a little frenetic when tackling the tricky underground car parks that serve the top of the old city around the ramparts.
Last Saturday, we headed off to La Rochelle with my Mum and Chris, who were staying with us for 10 days. The weather has been fantastic for the last week, and it registered 30 degrees (86f) as we drove in to the town. The plan was to head for the Vieux Port (the old harbour) and find somewhere for lunch.
On the road again, this time in the company of a very fine Citroën DS23 Pallas on a day trip to Bordeaux and up the coast to Royan. Here are some of the best photos of the day.
